Within the R90 application, the Credit Card Authorization feature will allow the RNS software to interact with the credit card verification software and your computer's modem to contact your merchant's processing network to check a customers credit card account. Then, if the funds are available, the transaction will be approved and the proceeds will be routed to the merchant's account. |
This process involves two steps. The first step is the Authorization. The Authorization is a request to charge a cardholder. The cardholder's 'Open to Buy' is reduced by the amount of the authorization but the cardholder's account is not actually charged. The Authorization must be settled in order to charge the account.
The next step is the Settlement or Close Batch procedure. The settlement is a process by which transactions with authorization codes are sent to the processor for payment to the merchant. Normally, a settlement is done at the end of each day.
